Have Fun Buying Your Dog a St. Patrick's Day Gift

Showing your dog you care with a few treats and lots of attention throughout the year should be a given. However, there is nothing more fun than celebrating a few holidays with your dog and giving him some well-deserved gifts at the same time.

Plus, you have so many options to include him in all of the fun on St. Patrick's Day. Dog toys are the natural gift to gravitate to and the selection can be as simple as a green ball or a stuffed Leprechaun doll to sleep with or toss into the air and play fetch together. Dogs love to play, especially with their masters so even some extra playtime makes a nice holiday gift.

Since most dogs have a healthy appetite for food, this is another great option for gift giving. Purchase St. Patrick's Day cookies or dog treats made for dogs. If these are a little out of your price range, revert to the generic brand of dog biscuits and pull out the green ones to offer him on March 17.

Even if you are having corned beef and cabbage with a bit of boiled potato on the side, give your dog his regular diet. You can probably give him a taste of your dinner, but you don't want to give him any digestive problems so make it a small taste. In fact, if you really want to do something special for your dog's dinner, prepare him some homemade dog food. Plenty of recipes exist and you might be able to pick up a homemade dog food cookbook at the store.

Finally, another terrific option for a St. Patrick's Day gift is the purchase of a new outfit or accessory for your dog. How about a new sweatshirt or sweater for your doggie? Or maybe he needs a new rain slicker? Perhaps the two of you are going to attend a St. Patrick's Day party and a stylish dress, skirt combo, or shirt and tie would make a cute gift. Whatever you buy, buy it in green to keep in with the spirit of the day.

Even if your dog isn't into wearing Kelly green clothing and you aren't into buying them for him, you can still purchase a new accessory of two for your dog on St. Patrick's Day. Dog collar charms are cute and colorful additions to any dog's collar. Plus, they even have digitalized ones that provide for your dog's safety.

St. Patrick's Day is a day when everyone can pretend to be Irish, even the dogs. It's a day to celebrate life, family, and friends. Buying your dog a trinket or two, spending a few extra quality moments with him, and letting him know you care are all ways that you can celebrate his life, his friendship, and his place in your family.
